Official Competition Rules
1. Eligibility
- Entrants must be South African residents aged 18 or older.
- Photos must be of a child (aged 4–8) on their first day of school (Grade R to Grade 4).
- Entrants must be a parent or legal guardian of the child in the photo.
- Foundation staff, sponsors, or their immediate family are not eligible to enter or win.
2. Entry Rules
- Entry period: 1 August 2025 – 22 August 2025
- Entries must be submitted via email.
- Each entry must include:
- The child’s first name
- Nickname to be used for the competition
- Grade and school
- Parent/guardian’s name and contact number
- A short caption or story
- One entry per child is permitted.
- By entering, you grant the foundation the right to use your submitted photo and story for promotional purposes.
3. Voting Process
- Voting opens after entries close – 1 September 2025 08:00.
- Members of the public may vote via SMS by sending the unique code assigned to each photo.
- Standard SMS rates apply R2.00 per SMS and free/bundled SMS do not apply.
- Multiple votes are allowed per person.
- Voting closes on – 30 September 2025 00:00
4. Finalist Round
- The top 4 entries with the most SMS votes from the public voting phase will be selected as finalists.
- Finalists will be notified via phone and/or email.
- The finalists will have one week to rally for additional votes in the Final Voting Phase.
- Voting opens – 1 October 2025 08:00
- All votes from the first round will not carry over. Voting starts fresh for finalists.
- Voting closes on – 7 October 2025 00:00
5. Winner Selection & Prize
- The photo with the most SMS votes during the final voting week will be declared the winner.
- The winner will receive R5 000.00 towards school fees.
- Winners will be announced on 10 October 2025 on our website and social media platforms.
6. General Conditions
- The organisers reserve the right to disqualify entries that are incomplete, inappropriate, or suspected of manipulation.
- The competition is subject to SMS platform reliability and network availability.
- Personal information submitted will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
- Judges’ and organisers’ decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
- By entering, participants agree to be bound by these rules.
